Bridgerton Mehendi
A garden room, composed in Udaipur

A pastel floral conservatory in sage, dusty blush and warm ivory.
For Baksheen and Harkaran’s mehendi at Fairmont Udaipur, the brief was not to reproduce a period set. It was to borrow the softness, wit and cultivated abundance of an English garden, then let it belong naturally to an Indian daytime celebration.
Sage, dusty blush and warm ivory created the base. Botanical panels, climbing roses, hydrangeas, vintage chandeliers and salon-style furniture brought the room together in layers, so guests discovered small details rather than one loud focal point.
The balance mattered: romantic without becoming sugary, detailed without feeling crowded, and formal enough for the architecture while still relaxed enough for a mehendi.
Romance works harder when it has structure.

- Daylight
A pastel conservatory shaped through floral density, printed surfaces, collected furniture and soft architectural framing.
The mehendi was held inside a marquee at Fairmont Udaipur, so the room had to be built almost from nothing. The ceiling, walls, light and furniture were all part of the design, so the space could feel like a conservatory rather than a tent.

A ceiling that softens everything
Pleated blush fabric was drawn across the marquee roof, and printed lampshades with sage fringing hung low over the tables. The light arrives filtered and warm, the way it does under a garden canopy.
- 02
Print as architecture
Botanical toile panels framed in sage act as walls, windows and backdrops. The printed surfaces carry the garden reference, so the flowers don’t have to do everything.

Rooms within the room
An octagonal sage pavilion, a striped-awning façade and salon lounges with curved sofas and pink poufs break the marquee into smaller places to sit, talk and have mehendi applied.

- Scalloped, flower-printed canopies above the dining tables
- Arched sage window frames over a painted cabinet
- Menu cards in blush frames beside cut-crystal candlesticks
- Sage-green roses that tie the flowers back to the woodwork
