Studio / Shivani Mahajan

She gives rooms
a point of view.

Shivani designs celebrations the way a set designer builds a world — beginning with mood, movement and the memory a room should leave behind.

The point of view
“The flowers are never the first decision. The feeling is.”

Every Sage & Saaj project starts by asking how people should move through the space, where they should pause, and what they should remember when the room no longer exists.

The story

From designing at scale to designing personally.

Before founding Sage & Saaj, Shivani spent six years as Head Creative Designer at Aura by Gautam Vedi, shaping weddings and celebrations across formats, cities and scales. That chapter sharpened her eye for proportion, production and the invisible decisions that make a space feel effortless.

Sage & Saaj is the more personal chapter: a founder-led design studio where every project begins with the people and the place. Shivani works across concept, spatial planning, colour, florals, furniture, lighting and on-ground execution — holding one idea from the first sketch to the final candle.

The result is Indian in instinct, editorial in restraint and never built from a preset look. Not décor applied to a venue, but a temporary world that belongs to one celebration alone.

How the studio works

One idea, held all the way through.

01 / Listen

People before references.

We begin with the hosts, rituals, venue and desired feeling — not a pre-built visual theme.

02 / Compose

The whole room, not isolated décor.

Spatial planning, colour, florals, furniture and light are designed as one connected system.

03 / Hold

From first sketch to final candle.

The same point of view guides detailing, production decisions and the on-ground finish.

The studio belief

A celebration should feel like its people — only more cinematic.
