Anand Karaj

A ceremony held in softness

Anand Karaj — blush Anand Karaj ceremony by Sage & Saaj
The design story

A daytime ceremony held in softness.

The Anand Karaj at Fairmont Udaipur was designed around the quality of morning light. Rather than compete with it, the palette stayed close to baby peach, blush and ivory, allowing the ceremony to feel calm from every approach.

Delicate jaali work, pale florals, restrained metallic details and chandeliers created a sequence that felt ceremonial without becoming heavy. The architecture framed the gathering; the décor softened its edges.

Every layer was considered from seated eye level, so the space felt intimate even at scale and the couple remained the clearest point in the composition.

Softness is a spatial decision, not only a palette.

Design notes

A day-wedding environment where pale florals, jaali and diffused light supported the quiet gravity of the ceremony.

The setting

The ceremony took place by day in a ballroom at Fairmont Udaipur, followed by lunch in a garden pavilion. The two spaces had different moods but shared one soft palette.

Three design decisions
  1. 01

An aisle that leads the eye

Low beds of pink and white flowers line the aisle on both sides. They draw attention forward to the ceremony without blocking anyone’s view.

  2. 02

Carved texture instead of more colour

Peach panels with carved patterns, arched frames and fine floral strands overhead add depth while the palette stays quiet.

  3. 03

    Lunch under a canopy

For lunch, a pale draped pavilion with chandeliers, a black-and-white chequered floor and round tables in gold cloth shifted the pace from ceremony to celebration.

Look closer
  • Floor seating with white bolsters before the ceremony space
  • An arched welcome sign carrying the Ik Onkar
  • A vanity corner with an antique mirror, pearls and roses
  • A blush bar with carved, arched panels
